We arrived at the restaurant around 7:45pm just to realize that the restaurant didn't open until 8:30pm, so we decided to go next door for a drink, until it opened. We arrived back at the restaurant around 9pm. They greeted us and sat us right away. Not much of a surprise that folks in Bilbao have dinner around 9-10pm! The service was great. We had several servers greet us and checked on us frequently, but we never felt rushed. As a matter of fact, we spent roughly 2 and half hours breaking bread and enjoying each others company.
The menu looked great! We were all hungry - the idea of waiting until 9:30 for dinner is a foreign concept for Americans. It was difficult to choose, but I finally decided on the ragu with pork in a red sauce with fresh mozzarella and rigatoni. It was spectacular. I was fresh and the sauce complimented the pasta well. My friends all went with pizza, which was my second choice. They all commented on how incredible everything was and I certainly agreed.
There was six of us and wine was the preferred choice of beverage so we went with two local wines - a bottle of white and one red. I had the white wine - it was crisp and complemented my pasta well. After two and a half hours enjoying each other's company we were finally full, but still made room for gelato - just one serving with several spoons. One word to describe the dessert, delish.
A great five star experience.
La Tagliatella, Gran Via 55, Bilbao, Spain. 944 41 96 97. We ate there this evening 4 June 2017. Food was absolutely superb - from salads, pasta and deserts. Everything was presented very well, arrived within a reasonable time - and was unbelievably delicious. The bottle of red wine was lovely. At the end of the evening the bill arrived and it was very reasonable. We are looking forward to returning to this LaTagliatella the next time that we are in Bilbao. I cannot say enough good things about our meal there, as well as the wonderful attentive service and the atmosphere and decor. Best wishes and keep up your excellent work.
Y no tienen cerveza tostada.
