Well, Matritum was quite a discovery the other day. I've been living next to this tavern for the last 6 years and have never entered in until last Friday. The place is small but welcoming and decorated with a good taste. Waitress service is above excellent.
And the food! The food was a Michelin star quality! We had Spanish "croquetas", tartar and lobster salpicón for entrée, plus homemade bread and fresh olives. Then we followed with oven cooked monkfish with potatoes and green salsa (parsley, garlic, and oil of olives), fresh mushroom risotto, and tender beef with a mousse of potatoes. For dessert, we ordered brownies with homemade vanilla ice cream, and a Catalan version of crème brûlée with lemon sorbet in it. Every single dish was amazing! I would come back to Matritum as often as I can!
My 2nd time at this restaurant. Allready my favorite in Madrid. Again great food, wine and service ... a great, and unexpected experience. I Love it! �
