If San Jose (Almeria) is a version of heaven on earth (which I think it is), then La Gallineta is where those in heaven would take their meals - especially the rice. The spirit and technique come from Alicante, David and his wonderfully international team do the rest. I could walk you through the menu, what we ordered, what we really liked, but I don't think that matters so much. Just go. If you're in the area, or close, or planning a vacation somewhere nearby, go. Make it a point, it's well worth a stop (hola, Michelin), go twice. And order rice. Lots of it. Order the home made ice cream, or the violet ice cream. Ask if there's anything new that they've added from their travels and imagination. See the art on the walls, listen to the blues wafting in from the courtyard.
You'll find the leisure afternoon full of flavors and technique from around the world and back again. In the end, it comes back to the rice. A beautiful little restaurant near some spectacular beaches with outstanding food and a wonderful staff - not sure what else one could ask for. Try and it and thank the food muses later.

Todo lo que pedimos estaba simplemente delicioso.
Un trato amable y cordial por parte de todos y la decoración del lugar realmente acogedor.
Nosotros pedimos la ensalada tailandesa que era una mezcla sabores realmente bien lograda.
Nos decantamos por un arroz porque nos habíamos acercado para probar sus arroces, pedimos un arroz de matanza alpujarreña que estaba increíblemente bueno.
Y los postres también estaban exquisitos la tarta de manzana con helado de canela excelente y la Tarta de queso Idiazábal y napoleón de mermelada de higo también estaba delicioso, lo único si me permiten más que una tarta me atrevería a decir que era un flan de queso.
En definitiva un restaurante al que sin duda regresaremos a probar alguna de las variedades de su carta.
Restaurante con la decoración muy bonito, con una amplia terraza típica de la zona, la atención muy buena, el personal atento y simpático, la comida bien aunque podrían mejorar un poco más, el arroz de textura estaba en su punto, venía con bastante tropezones, si que es verdad que de sabor estaba muy plano.
Por lo demás todo correcto!!!
